    Ratio are use to compare values. They tell us much of one thing there is compared to another. Proportions are related to a ratio in that they tell you when two ratios are equal to each othet.

    Ratios can be shown in different ways. Using the ":" to separate example values, or as a single number by dividing one value by the total.

    The idea of proportions is that a ratio can be written in many ways and still be equal to the same value. That's why proportions are actually equations with equal ratios

    A proportion is a name we give to a statement that two ratios are equal. It can be when two ratios are equal , then the cross products of the ratios are equal.
